Itineraries

Not sure how to plan your day? Read through our suggested itineraries below to get an idea of where to go, what to do, and how to maximize your time on the farm.

  • A perfect day in the Applegate Valley for the whole family.

    From Grants Pass:
    Start your day off at the Whistling Duck Farm Store (24) where you can take a farm tour starting every hour on the hour. Grab snacks for the kiddos and local ferments for home and to add as a side to complement your next stop for lunch at Plaisance Ranch (26) where you can take a rest, let the kids dance to some live music and grab hot dogs and hamburgers, all in the shady seating area. Wine tasting available for the adults.

    From Plaisance, head down Williams Highway to Oshala Farm (23) to learn about Regenerative Agriculture, herbal products and get a signed copy of the Raising Resilient Bees book by local authors. Guided tours available at 10, 12, and 2pm.

    If the kids aren’t done yet… choose your own adventure:

    Path 1: Head to the English Lavender Farm (25) for live music and more food, including lavender ice cream. The lavender will come in handy on the ride home!

    Path 2: On your way back to Grants Pass, take the North Applegate Road and stop off at Troon Vineyard (22) for a last glass of wine, and a tour of the new farmstand where you can get veggies to make dinner at home.

    From Jacksonville:
    Start your day at the Applegate River Lavender Farm (19) with a guided tour, u-pick, and an opportunity to purchase additional artisan made lavender products. Next, head up the Little Applegate Road to visit Salant Family Ranch (20) for kids pony rides, grilled burgers, and refreshments. Bring your cooler to load up your freezer at home with local beef.

    After lunch, head to Rogue Artisan Foods (21), a small regenerative farm, and learn how small-scale farming can heal the land. Pick up eggs, milk, and meat, and have a birria goat taco before heading home.

  • Learn about pollinators and how essential they are for many of the agricultural crops we depend on.

    Begin your day at Wild Bee Honey Farm (5), a heritage apiary and processing facility. Get an up-close demonstration of their beeswax candle making process – kids can also participate in their own candle rolling activities. Bee sure to take a peek at their processing facility and browse their farm store for fresh, local honey and other bee-themed products.

    Next, head west to Itty Bitty Acres (7), to explore their orchard, flowers, honey bees, produce, and chickens. Enjoy lawn games, arts & crafts, and don’t miss the guided hayride tours - offered every two hours. Snacks will also be available for purchase.

    Finish your day at Dos Mariposas Vineyard & Lavender Farm (12), a family-friendly vineyard and lavender farm, where you can stroll through rows of gorgeous lavender while harvesting your own bundles and watch an essential oil distillation demonstration. Afterwards, enjoy live music by the pond with a glass of wine and dinner from a local food truck. Take a piece of this Dos Mariposas home with you - pick up some of their lavender essential oils or lotions available for purchase in the Tasting Room. Dos Mariposas is open until 6pm so you can extend your Farm Tour experience!

  • Explore offerings from Medford’s historic working farms.

    Start your day at the historic Hanley Farm (10), established in 1857 with a living history museum operated by the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the farm – filled with rare plants and trees collected by the Hanley family over the years.

    As lunch time approaches, head south to EdenVale Winery & Eden Valley Orchards (16) to visit the historic Voorhies Mansion and the birthplace of the commercial pear industry. After a self guided tour of the property’s gardens, enjoy lunch with a premium glass of wine or organic pear cider, followed by games on the lawn.

    End your day at Dunbar Farms (15), a fourth generation 112-year old family farm featuring award-winning wines and fun for the whole family. Meet the horses and cows, and visit the tasting room to explore the history of the farm. From 1-3pm, enjoy live music from Rick Millward, a seasoned musician and songwriter drawing from a wide range of genres, including rock, country, and Americana. Before you head home, enjoy dinner and drinks – served until 6pm.

  • A fun and educational day for new and seasoned gardeners.

    Start your day at Goodwin Creek Gardens (27) with fresh lavender lemonade and explore other herbal goodies for sale. Next, head up East Fork Road to visit Siskiyou Seeds (28). Leave plenty of time to tour this incredible permaculture farm, and learn about seed saving, water conservation, polyculture systems, and so much more. For lunch, grab a burger and a glass of wine tasting at Plaisance Farm (26). On your way home, enjoy a guided tour at Whistling Duck Farm Store (24) and pick up fresh produce and fermented goodies for the upcoming week.

  • Taste and experience farms from Rogue River to Grants Pass.

    Wake up and smell the lavender! If you haven’t had the chance to visit Lavender Ally Farm (4), this is a great place to start. There will be crafts, music, and ​​Old Sol Apiaries for a pollinator collaboration! You’ll have an opportunity to pick your own lavender for the day - take it home to make tea, lemonade, or sprinkle on your favorite sugar cookie recipe.

    On your way to Grants Pass, stop by Easy Valley Farm (3) to see what’s growing this July! They have lots of produce, a farm stand, food for purchase, and farm tours throughout the day. Maybe you’ve just discovered the perfect local farm stand to access throughout the growing season - ask the farmers what their favorite recipes are for inspiration in your kitchen.

    All the foodies know the Rogue Valley is famous for the Rogue River Blue from Rogue Creamery. See where all the cheese mastery begins – at the Rogue Creamery Dairy and Farm Stand (1). You’ll get to explore the dairy farm and the state of the art milking system that’s behind the world-famous, organic, handmade cheese we all love. There will be cheese to taste of course, but remember to save some room.

    Once you’re good and hungry, head on over to the Hummingbird Creek Bistro (2). No rush – this beer and wine garden is open until 7pm. They serve all organic farm-fresh products on their rustic Italian pizzas, salads, charcuterie boards, and fresh breads made daily. Enjoy live music and lawn games with a glass of beer, wine, or cider as you wind down your day.

  • Scoop up your besties, grab some coffee, and hit the road for a girls day out visiting local farms!

    First stop is Applegate River Lavender Farm (19). Take beautiful photos with your pals surrounding by rows of gorgeous lavender, and enjoy lavender treats, u-pick, and artisan-made lavender products.

    After stocking up on lavender goodies and taking some selfies, you’re off to Troon Vineyard (22) about 20 minutes away. Troon Vineyard is a treat! This Biodynamic and Regenerative Organic certified vineyard boasts delicious wines, and will be offering guided tours by their Director of Agriculture, Garett Long at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.

    After wine tasting and shopping the fresh produce at Troon’s farm stand, head to Oshala Farm (23), about 15 minutes away. Oshala Farm is a magical place - a certified organic family farm where they grow over 80 varieties of medicinal and culinary herbs. Learn about regenerative agriculture and sample herbal products. During the Farm Tour, Eric and Joy McEwen of Diggin’ Livin’ and authors of Raising Resilient Bees will be there to sign your books. Grab a local, organic lunch at Oshala and enjoy the afternoon guided tour beginning at 2pm (also available at 10am and 12pm).

    The final stop for the day is just 10 minutes away at Plaisance Ranch (26). Even though the Farm Tour technically ends at 3pm – be sure to check each individual farm listing because several of them are open later! Plaisance is the perfect end to a beautiful day. This certified organic ranch produces 100% grass-fed beef and award-winning old world style wines. Enjoy wine tasting, burgers and hot dogs available for purchase, and live music until 6pm!
